WORTH SEEING

The most important historic sites and tourist attractions in Płock which are worth visiting:

  • Castle of the Mazovian Princes ul. Tumska 2. Currently the Mazovia Museum, where outstanding Art Nouveau collections can be seen.
  • Basilica Cathedral ul Tumska 3a. One of the oldest sacral buildings in Poland. The Royal Chapel features a sarcophagus containing the remains of the Mazovian princes Władysław Herman and Bolesław Wry-Mouth.
  • The collegiate church of St Michael and the former Jesuit Collegium at u;. Małachowskigo 1 are fragments of the building housing the oldest Polish school, in continuous existence since 1180, currently the campus of Marshal Stanisław Małachowski High School.
  • 15th century Gothic town-house Currently the headquarters of the Scientific Scoiety of Płock (Towarzystwo Naukowe Płockie), Pl. Narutowicza 8
  • The oldest still extant regional scientific society in Poland, in existence since 1820. The TNP primarily conducts regional studies on the topics of Płock and Mazovia. It publishes the journal "Notatki Płockie". The headquarters of the TNP are also home to collection of manuscripts of the Zieliński Library.
